The Pomegranate

Nothing says "the coming of winter" so much to me as the appearance of pomegranates in the market. This luscious fruit is packed with nutritional goodness. The effort you'll expend in extracting its wondrous seeds is a 'workout' in itself but so worth the effort!

Here is an article that speaks to the health benefits of eating pomegranates:   http://www.suite101.com/content/pomegranate-health-benefits-a222888

  1. My only regret with leaving Saint Marys and moving to Savannah was leaving my pomegranate tree behind. It took years to start producing and had finally worked itself up to a couple dozen pomegranates this year. Fortunately, I was able to harvest them because the house has yet to sell.

  3. Last year I had my very first pomegranate. They are awesome little nuggets. Actually became excited at the market when I saw the first ones come in a week or two ago. To have a tree.....that would be wonderful.

  4. I know people use them in recipes, but I can think of nothing better than eating the seeds by the spoonful! An almond tree, a lemon tree, an apricot tree, a pomegranate…. ah, to dream..
